The India e-Visa, Walked Through

Free guide

The India e-Visa, Walked Through

India is one of the easier visas to get on a Philippine passport. You apply online and never visit an embassy. This free guide walks you through the form, the photo rules that reject most applications, and the two conditions people miss.

  • Everything to gather before you open the form, so it does not time out on you
  • The photograph specification, which is what rejects most applications
  • The two conditions people miss: designated ports, and the minimum lead time
  • Step by step through the official site, and how to spot the lookalikes
  • What goes wrong, and how to avoid each one
  • What arrival actually looks like, including the separate e-visa counters

One email, the PDF straight to your inbox. Check your promotions tab if it is not in your main folder.

What is inside

Four parts, from gathering to landing.

Part one

Why this is one of the easier ones, and the two conditions that still catch people. The e-visa only admits you at designated airports and seaports, and there is a real minimum lead time.

Part two

What to have ready before you start, because the form times out and hunting for a document mid-way is how people lose their progress.

Part three

The application, step by step. Choosing the right visa type and length, matching your passport exactly, and checking your uploads actually went through.

Part four

What goes wrong and how to avoid it, then arrival. The e-visa counters, the biometrics, and the two things you will be asked for.

Who this is for

A good fit if you are

  • Booked on or considering the Golden Triangle trip
  • Applying for an Indian visa for the first time
  • Wanting to avoid the commercial sites that charge a markup
  • Unsure whether your arrival airport is a designated port

Probably not for you if

  • You are travelling to India for work, study or medical treatment
  • You already hold a valid Indian visa
  • You want an itinerary rather than the application

Questions people ask

Do Filipinos need a visa for India?
Yes, but it is applied for online and you never visit an embassy. It is genuinely one of the more straightforward applications, provided you meet the two conditions most people miss.
How long does it take?
There is a stated minimum lead time before your arrival date, and applications open a set number of months ahead. Both figures are on the dated page at the back of the guide. Processing takes longer if anything needs correcting.
Why do applications get rejected?
The photograph, most often. India s specification is stricter than most: square format, plain light background, whole face visible, no shadow, no filter. After that it is a mismatch between the form and the passport.
Can I fly into any airport?
No. The e-visa is valid only at designated airports and seaports, and the list is revised from time to time. Check your arrival airport before you book the flight, not after.
