Two provinces that sound the same and are not. Shaanxi on the Loess Plateau, Shanxi across the Yellow River, and a route that runs the length of both.
The Jingbian Wave Valley is the draw: a Danxia sandstone slot canyon of layered red waves, the closest thing China has to Antelope Canyon, and you go in with the lift and the glass bridge included. Then the Hukou Waterfall, where the entire Yellow River funnels through a fifty metre gap and turns the colour of wet clay. Then Yunqiu Mountain and its ice cave cluster, where the ice sits year round.
The last two days are Shanxi proper: the Feihong Pagoda at Guangsheng Temple, which they filmed Black Myth Wukong at, Shuanglin Temple with its painted clay figures, and Pingyao, the Ming walled city that the twentieth century simply passed by, where you can put on Shanxi merchant dress and walk Ming-Qing Street.
No shopping stops, breakfast plus eleven meals, and two bottles of water a day. Eight departures from March to July 2027, from ₱57,720 per person, which is USD 888.

Jingbian Wave Valley, a Danxia sandstone slot canyon in northern Shaanxi where water has cut the red rock into layered waves. It is the closest thing China has to Antelope Canyon in Arizona and it was barely known until drone photography found it. Your ticket includes the elevator and the glass bridge.
Not tall, about twenty metres, but the whole Yellow River goes through a gap of fifty. In spring melt it throws spray a hundred metres into the air and the noise carries for kilometres. It is the second largest waterfall in China by volume and the colour is pure Loess Plateau, the mud the river is named for.
No. There are no compulsory stores anywhere in the seven days and no surcharge for not buying. The costume makeover in Pingyao is an included experience, not a sales stop.
Yes, and we handle it. You travel on a China group visa, which costs USD 40 per person, about ₱2,600, collected with your tour fee. It is a group document, so you enter and leave China together with the group.
Breakfast every morning plus eleven meals, at a USD 8 per person standard. They are regional: Pingyao snacks, Shanxi noodles, farm style meals, the Yunqiu health meals and Yulin dishes. Shanxi is the noodle province of China, so this is one of the better fed itineraries in the range.

Yes, for a single supplement of ₱9,750, which is USD 150. Without it you are in a twin room with another traveller.
A lot. This route crosses two provinces from Yulin in the far north of Shaanxi down to Taiyuan in central Shanxi, and every day has a transfer in it. The Loess Plateau is the point, but go in knowing you will see a great deal of it through a window.
