Zhangjiajie Avatar Mountains 5 Days 4 Nights with Airfare, the Bailong Lift and the Glass Bridge

0
  • Duration: 5 Days 4 Nights
  • Airfare included, China Southern via Guangzhou and Changsha
  • 5 star hotels throughout
  • Four mandatory shopping stops, 90 minutes each

Detail

From PHP 29,185 per person, which is USD 449 at the rate we use, for the Avatar mountains in five days with the airfare in the price. Most departures are PHP 32,435. The 6 March 2027 run is the cheap one.

The main event is Yuanjiajie, up and down on the Bailong sky lift, the fastest outdoor elevator in the world. That is where the Hallelujah Mountain is, the sandstone pillar that gave Pandora its floating rocks. You also get the First Nature Bridge, Mihuntai, the Golden Whip Brook walk, the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and its glass bridge. Hotels are 5 star for all four nights, which is unusual at this price.

Be clear on two things first. This is a mandatory shopping tour with four stops at 90 minutes each, and skipping them costs USD 150 per person. And Tianmen Mountain, the cable car and the skywalk, is not included. It is an USD 80 optional on Day 4.

Price Includes

  • China Southern round trip airfare, airport tax and terminal fee
  • 4 nights 5 star hotel with daily breakfast, twin sharing
  • Private coach with a private English speaking guide
  • All entrance fees listed in the itinerary, including the Bailong sky lift
  • One bottle of water per person per day
  • 4 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 4 dinners

Price Excludes

  • Single supplement, USD 120
  • China group visa, USD 40
  • Philippine travel tax, USD 30
  • Tips for the driver and guide, USD 25
  • Travel insurance
  • The three optional tours, including Tianmen Mountain
  • Personal expenses such as phone calls and the minibar

What You Also Pay

The rate above covers what is listed under Price Includes. These are the costs that land on top of it. We would rather you saw the real number now than found it later.

  • This is a mandatory shopping tour. Four stops are in the itinerary, each requiring at least 90 minutes: a Chinese medicine store on Day 3, a latex store on Day 3, a tea house on Day 4 and a jewellery store on Day 4. If the group does not complete all four for the full time, the operator adds USD 150 per person. That is six hours of your five days.
  • Tianmen Mountain is not in the price. The cable car, the eco vehicle, the skywalk glass bridge and Tianmen Cave are an USD 80 optional on Day 4. If Tianmen is the reason you are going to Zhangjiajie, budget for it.
  • China group visa, USD 40 per person, collected with the tour fee.
  • Philippine travel tax, USD 30 per person, collected with the tour fee.
  • Tips for the driver and guide, USD 25 per person, collected with the tour fee.
  • Single supplement, USD 120, if you want the room to yourself.
  • Children aged 6 and over must have their own bed and pay the full adult rate. Children aged 2 to 6 without a bed are quoted separately, and on the January and February departures the operator's figure is USD 579, which is higher than the adult rate. We are checking that with them, so ask us before you book for a child.
  • Two more optionals: the Baofeng Lake cruise with Xibu Street at USD 65 on Day 3, and the Tianmen Fox Fairy show at USD 65 on Day 2.
  • A non refundable deposit of USD 200 per person is due within three days of confirming your seat. The balance is due one month before departure.

FAQ

Is Tianmen Mountain included?

No. Tianmen Mountain, with the cable car, the skywalk glass bridge and Tianmen Cave, is an USD 80 per person optional on Day 4. The Avatar mountains at Yuanjiajie and the Bailong sky lift are included. They are two different mountains, about an hour apart, and people often assume one package covers both.

How much shopping is built in?

Four stops at a minimum of 90 minutes each, so six hours across Days 3 and 4. A Chinese medicine store, a latex store, a tea house and a jewellery store. If the group skips any of them or leaves early, the operator charges USD 150 per person.

Why is 6 March cheaper?

The operator prices that one departure at USD 449 instead of USD 499, so PHP 29,185 instead of PHP 32,435. Same itinerary, same hotels. If your dates are flexible it is the one to take.

Are the hotels really 5 star?

The operator lists 5 star for all four nights, with 45sqm rooms in Changde, 28sqm in Zhangjiajie and 35sqm at the voco by Changsha airport. Chinese 5 star ratings are local ratings, so set your expectations at comfortable business hotel rather than luxury resort.

What does a child pay?

Children aged 6 and over must have their own bed and pay the full adult rate. For children aged 2 to 6 without a bed the operator quotes USD 579 on the January and February departures and USD 429 on 6 March. The USD 579 figure is higher than the adult rate, which does not look right to us, so please ask us to confirm before booking a child on those dates.

Is the Bailong lift included?

Yes, both up and down. It is a 326 metre glass elevator cut into the cliff and it is the normal way up to Yuanjiajie. The entrance fee and the lift are both in the price.

How many flights is it?

Four. Manila to Guangzhou, Guangzhou to Changsha on the way in, then the reverse coming home. Day 1 is a long travel day and you arrive at the Changde hotel in the evening.
