Northern Xinjiang in deep winter, which is a different trip from the summer version everyone photographs. Kanas Lake and Hemu Village under snow, the Burqin river bays, Devil City in the Junggar basin, and Sayram Lake up near the Kazakh border.
You start in Urumqi, cross the Gurbantunggut desert on the S21 highway, work north through Wolong Bay, Moon Bay and Fairy Bay to Kanas, spend a night at Hemu, come back down past Devil City to Karamay, then over to Sayram Lake and back to Urumqi for the International Bazaar.
One departure, 1 to 8 January 2027, at ₱129,935 per person, which is USD 1,999. Seven breakfasts, six lunches and six dinners are included.
Days 3 to 5 swap the coach for seven seat vehicles, because the roads up to Kanas and Hemu do not take a bus. Pack an overnight bag for those two nights, because your main luggage stays behind.

Because the roads up to Kanas and Hemu are not coach roads. On Days 3 to 5 the group splits across four seven seat vehicles. Your main suitcase stays with the coach, so pack a backpack with two nights of clothes and toiletries before you set off on Day 3. The guide will remind you, but it is easier if you have already thought about it.
Severe. Northern Xinjiang in January runs well below minus twenty and Kanas and Hemu sit in a mountain valley that is colder still. This is not a trip to pack optimistically for. A proper expedition grade down coat, thermal layers, insulated boots and face cover are all necessary.
USD 1,000 per person, about ₱65,000, within three days of confirming. It is the largest deposit of anything we sell and it reflects how far in advance the operator has to commit hotels and vehicles in a region with very little capacity. It is non refundable and it cannot be moved to another date, so do not pay it until your leave and your visa are both settled.
Yes, and we handle it. You travel on a China group visa, which costs USD 40 per person, about ₱2,600, collected with your tour fee. It is a group document, so you enter and leave China together with the group.
Seven hotel breakfasts, six lunches and six dinners, including a buffet on the last night. You pay for lunch on the first and last days only, which matters in a region where there is often nothing between stops.
No. There are no compulsory stores anywhere in the eight days. The Urumqi International Bazaar on Day 7 is a market people visit on purpose.
A child from 2 to 6 years old without their own bed is USD 50 less than the adult, about ₱3,250 off. From 6 years old local rules require their own bed and they pay the adult rate. Given the cold and the driving, think hard before bringing young children on this one.
Yes, for a single supplement of ₱22,750, which is USD 350. Without it you are in a twin room with another traveller.
