Northern Xinjiang 8 Days 7 Nights with Airfare, Kanas Lake and Sayram Lake

0
  • 8 days and 7 nights
  • Flights from Manila on China Southern via Guangzhou
  • Kanas Lake, Hemu Village and Sayram Lake
  • The Gurbantunggut desert highway
  • Seven breakfasts, six lunches and six dinners
  • One departure only, New Year 2027

Detail

Northern Xinjiang in deep winter, which is a different trip from the summer version everyone photographs. Kanas Lake and Hemu Village under snow, the Burqin river bays, Devil City in the Junggar basin, and Sayram Lake up near the Kazakh border.

You start in Urumqi, cross the Gurbantunggut desert on the S21 highway, work north through Wolong Bay, Moon Bay and Fairy Bay to Kanas, spend a night at Hemu, come back down past Devil City to Karamay, then over to Sayram Lake and back to Urumqi for the International Bazaar.

One departure, 1 to 8 January 2027, at ₱129,935 per person, which is USD 1,999. Seven breakfasts, six lunches and six dinners are included.

Days 3 to 5 swap the coach for seven seat vehicles, because the roads up to Kanas and Hemu do not take a bus. Pack an overnight bag for those two nights, because your main luggage stays behind.

Price Includes

  • Return international airfare from Manila on China Southern via Guangzhou
  • Airport tax and terminal fee
  • 23kg checked baggage in one piece, plus 7kg hand carry
  • Private bus with an English speaking tour guide, and seven seat vehicles on Days 3 to 5
  • All entrance fees for the sights listed, including Kanas, Hemu, Devil City and Sayram Lake
  • 7 nights hotel accommodation on twin sharing, no extra bed
  • One bottle of water per person per day
  • 7 hotel breakfasts, 6 lunches and 6 dinners, including the hotel buffet on the last night

Price Excludes

  • Lunch on the first and last days
  • Single supplement if you want a room to yourself
  • China group visa
  • Travel insurance
  • Philippine travel tax
  • Tips for the driver and guide
  • Any fuel surcharge increase since 24 June 2026
  • Personal spending such as phone calls and the mini bar

What You Also Pay

The rate above covers what is listed under Price Includes. These are the costs that land on top of it. We would rather you saw the real number now than found it later.

  • China group visa, ₱2,600 per person, which is USD 40. We arrange it and collect the fee with your tour fee.
  • Philippine travel tax, ₱1,950 per person, which is USD 30. Also collected with your tour fee.
  • Tips for the driver and guide, ₱2,600 per person, which is USD 40. Also collected with your tour fee.
  • Single supplement, ₱22,750 per person, which is USD 350, if you do not want to share a room.
  • Travel insurance, which is not included on this tour. On a trip this remote in January, buy it.
  • Lunch on the first and last days. Everything else is fed.
  • Any fuel surcharge increase. The supplier excludes increases dated from 24 June 2026 onwards, so a rise between booking and departure is passed on.
  • A deposit of ₱65,000 per person, which is USD 1,000, due within three days of confirming your seat. That is the largest deposit in our range and it is non refundable and non transferable, so be certain of your dates and your visa before you pay it. The balance is due one month before you fly.

FAQ

What does it cost?

One departure, 1 to 8 January 2027, at ₱129,935 per person on twin sharing, which is USD 1,999. There is no second date.

Why do we change vehicles for three days?

Because the roads up to Kanas and Hemu are not coach roads. On Days 3 to 5 the group splits across four seven seat vehicles. Your main suitcase stays with the coach, so pack a backpack with two nights of clothes and toiletries before you set off on Day 3. The guide will remind you, but it is easier if you have already thought about it.

How cold is it in January?

Severe. Northern Xinjiang in January runs well below minus twenty and Kanas and Hemu sit in a mountain valley that is colder still. This is not a trip to pack optimistically for. A proper expedition grade down coat, thermal layers, insulated boots and face cover are all necessary.

Why is the deposit so large?

USD 1,000 per person, about ₱65,000, within three days of confirming. It is the largest deposit of anything we sell and it reflects how far in advance the operator has to commit hotels and vehicles in a region with very little capacity. It is non refundable and it cannot be moved to another date, so do not pay it until your leave and your visa are both settled.

Do I need a visa for China?

Yes, and we handle it. You travel on a China group visa, which costs USD 40 per person, about ₱2,600, collected with your tour fee. It is a group document, so you enter and leave China together with the group.

How many meals do I get?

Seven hotel breakfasts, six lunches and six dinners, including a buffet on the last night. You pay for lunch on the first and last days only, which matters in a region where there is often nothing between stops.

Is this a shopping tour?

No. There are no compulsory stores anywhere in the eight days. The Urumqi International Bazaar on Day 7 is a market people visit on purpose.

How much for children?

A child from 2 to 6 years old without their own bed is USD 50 less than the adult, about ₱3,250 off. From 6 years old local rules require their own bed and they pay the adult rate. Given the cold and the driving, think hard before bringing young children on this one.

Can I have a room to myself?

Yes, for a single supplement of ₱22,750, which is USD 350. Without it you are in a twin room with another traveller.
