10-Day Philippines Itinerary 2026: Manila, El Nido & Coron

Ten days in the Philippines is enough to do it right. Not rushing, not skipping things, but actually experiencing the best the country has to offer. The classic route, Manila as the gateway, El Nido for the lagoons and limestone, Coron for the wrecks and lakes, is a trip that covers three completely different experiences in a single efficient circuit. Here’s how to plan it properly.

10-day Philippines itinerary Manila El Nido Coron why this route works
Manila, El Nido, and Coron is the classic Philippines circuit — urban energy, then raw nature, then diving and lakes.

Why This Route Works

Most international travelers arrive at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport. El Nido and Coron are both in Palawan, accessible by a short flight from Manila. You can do El Nido then Coron (or Coron first then El Nido) without backtracking, flying home from either destination or back through Manila.

The 10-day framework gives you: 1 day in Manila (arrival + adjustment), 4-5 days in El Nido, 3-4 days in Coron, and 1 day for travel buffer and Manila transit on the way out. It’s tight enough to feel full and loose enough to breathe.

Days 4-7 in El Nido cover Tours A and C for the lagoons, plus a free day for Nacpan Beach or a private charter.

Day-by-Day Breakdown

Day 1: Manila Arrival

Land at NAIA, check in to a hotel near the airport or in Makati (30-45 minutes by taxi). Your primary goal today is recovery from the long-haul flight and preparation for the next day’s early flight to El Nido.

If you arrive with energy and time: BGC (Bonifacio Global City) has excellent restaurants within walking distance of many transit hotels. The Poblacion area in Makati has good food and bar options if you arrive early enough. But genuinely, rest is more valuable than sightseeing on Day 1. You’ve got 9 more days.

Accommodation: Transit hotel near NAIA Terminals 1-4, or Makati CBD if your budget allows and you want a proper first night. Budget ₱2,000-₱5,000 for accommodation, less if you’re just sleeping before a 6am flight.

Day 2: Fly to El Nido

The AirSWIFT flight from Manila to Lio Airport (El Nido) departs from NAIA Terminal 4. Flight time is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. Check AirSWIFT flight schedules carefully, flights typically depart in the morning.

Alternatively, fly Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines to Puerto Princesa, then take a private van transfer to El Nido (5-6 hours, arranged by your tour operator).

Arrive El Nido by early-to-mid afternoon. Check in, walk the main strip, have a seafood dinner. Early night, you’re on the water tomorrow.

Day 3: El Nido Island Hopping Tour A

Your first full day on the water. Tour A covers the Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, Secret Lagoon, and Shimizu Island. This is the introduction to El Nido and the lagoon experience is as good as the photos suggest, probably better in person. Boat departs around 9am, returns around 5pm. Lunch is included on the boat.

Evening: kinilaw and grilled fish at one of the waterfront restaurants. The sunset from the El Nido town beach is worth catching.

Day 4: El Nido Island Hopping Tour C

Tour C is the one with Secret Beach, accessible only by swimming through a rock opening. Also covers Helicopter Island (outstanding snorkeling on the reef) and Star Beach. This is the most adventurous of the four tours. If you’re doing two tours in El Nido, this is the pairing with Tour A that covers the full El Nido range.

Day 5: Nacpan Beach and Free Day

Nacpan Beach is 17km north of El Nido town and one of the most beautiful undeveloped beaches in Palawan. Rent a tricycle (₱500-₱700 return), spend the morning and early afternoon on the sand, and return for a relaxed evening in town.

Alternatively, use Day 5 for Tour B or Tour D if you want more lagoon time. Or kayak in the bay in the morning and explore the market in the afternoon. This is your buffer day.

Day 6: El Nido to Coron (Fly)

AirSWIFT operates the El Nido (Lio Airport) to Coron (Busuanga Airport) route, roughly 30-45 minutes. Book this flight in advance, it’s a popular route and sells out during peak season.

Arrive Coron mid-morning or early afternoon. Check in to your accommodation in Coron town. Walk to Mount Tapyas in the late afternoon, 700+ steps up for a 360-degree view of the bay and town. Sunset from the top is spectacular and a good physical reset after days on boats.

Day 7: Coron Island Hopping (Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, CYC Beach)

The classic Coron island hopping day. Kayangan Lake is the centerpiece, a crater lake with water so clear it looks computer-generated, surrounded by jagged limestone formations. Twin Lagoon has two connected pools accessible through a rock passage (similar to El Nido’s Secret Lagoon). CYC Beach is a good snorkeling stop.

This tour gives you the signature Coron lake-and-lagoon experience that appears on every Coron itinerary. Budget ₱1,200-₱1,500 per person for the shared tour, plus ₱500-₱700 in site entry fees (Kayangan, Twin Lagoon, CYC Beach).

Day 8: Coron Wreck Diving or Snorkeling

If you’re a certified diver, this is your wreck diving day. The Skeleton Wreck (Olympia Maru), Barracuda Lake, and Kogyo Maru together make for a full day of outstanding diving. Book through one of Coron’s PADI-certified dive shops. Budget ₱3,500-₱5,000 for a 2-dive day package with gear.

Non-divers: Barracuda Lake surface snorkeling and the Siete Pecados Marine Park (a shallow coral reef system a short boat ride from town) are excellent alternatives. The Skeleton Wreck is visible by snorkeling in good conditions.

Day 9: Coron Free Day / Calauit Safari

Calauit Safari Park is a unique Coron experience, a wildlife reserve on Calauit Island (about 2 hours from Coron town by boat) that was established in the 1970s and is home to giraffes, zebras, and various Philippine endemic species living together in the same sanctuary. It sounds improbable and is genuinely surreal. Tours run approximately ₱2,000-₱2,500 per person including boat and park fee.

Alternatively, use Day 9 as a rest and exploration day in Coron town, checking out the market, the hot springs (Maquinit Hot Springs is a saltwater hot spring 6km from town, highly recommended after a week of activity), or simply doing less for one day.

Day 10: Fly Home (via Manila or Direct)

Busuanga Airport (the Coron airport) has direct flights to Manila with Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines. Most flights are in the morning. You can connect to international flights from NAIA on the same day for most departure regions, though a same-day connection requires careful timing. If your international flight is the next day, overnight in Manila.

Add Port Barton between El Nido and Coron for a quiet night, or extend Coron by 1-2 days for wreck diving.

Flexible Variations

Add Puerto Princesa: If you fly Manila to Puerto Princesa instead of directly to El Nido, spend one day doing the Underground River tour before continuing north to El Nido. This extends the trip to 11-12 days but adds the UNESCO World Heritage Site experience.

Reverse the route: Manila to Coron, then El Nido, then home from El Nido (via Lio Airport on AirSWIFT or Puerto Princesa on a major carrier). Works equally well and means you experience Coron when you’re freshest.

Add Port Barton: Port Barton is a quieter beach town between Puerto Princesa and El Nido. Adding 2 nights here turns the trip into a 12-day circuit for travelers who want a more off-the-beaten-path element. CMT’s Port Barton packages cover island hopping in this less-visited area.

Booking Timeline

For a peak season (December-March) trip: book flights 2-3 months ahead, accommodation 4-6 weeks ahead, and tour packages as early as possible. For a shoulder season trip (May, November): 4-6 weeks ahead for flights, 2-3 weeks for accommodation.

The El Nido-Coron AirSWIFT flight is the booking that runs out first during peak season. Do this one before anything else.

FAQ: 10-Day Philippines Itinerary

Q: Is 10 days enough for El Nido and Coron?

Yes, 10 days covers both destinations well with time for the best tours at each. It doesn’t leave room for much spontaneous extension, so plan your must-do experiences in advance.

Q: Should I do El Nido or Coron first?

Either works. El Nido first is slightly more common because flights from Manila are more frequent. Coron first lets you save El Nido’s more dramatic scenery for the second half of the trip.

Q: Do I need a visa for the Philippines?

Most nationalities can enter visa-free for 30 days. Check current visa requirements for your country at the Philippine Bureau of Immigration before booking.

Q: What’s the best month for a 10-day Philippines trip?

February and March offer the best combination of weather, manageable crowds, and reliable tour operations. November is good value with fewer people. Avoid September-October (typhoon season).

Q: Can CMT handle the full 10-day itinerary?

Yes. CMT offers combined El Nido and Coron packages that cover accommodation, island hopping tours, van and boat transfers, and daily breakfast across both destinations. Contact us with your dates and we’ll put together a combined itinerary.
