South Korea Trip Cost from the Philippines: 2026 Budget Guide in Pesos

South Korea Trip Cost from the Philippines: 2026 Budget Guide in Pesos

Most Korea budget posts give you a number and no working. That’s useless, because the south korea trip cost from the philippines swings by more than double depending on three decisions you make before you even leave: when you fly, where you sleep, and how often you eat sitting down.

So here’s the whole thing broken out in pesos, at roughly ₱0.046 to the won, which is about where the rate sat in September 2026. Rates move, so treat the peso figures as planning numbers rather than quotes.

Short version up front: a lean five-day Seoul trip lands around ₱26,000 per person all in. A comfortable mid-range version is closer to ₱55,000. If you want the honest middle, budget ₱50,000 and you’ll be fine.

The Five-Day Budget at Three Levels

Item Backpacker Mid-range Comfortable
Return airfare, Manila to Incheon ₱12,000 ₱18,000 ₱28,000
Visa and service fee ₱1,000 ₱1,000 ₱1,000
4 nights accommodation ₱5,600 ₱20,000 ₱34,000
Food, 5 days ₱4,500 ₱9,000 ₱15,000
Local transport, 5 days ₱1,750 ₱3,000 ₱6,000
Attractions and extras ₱1,500 ₱3,500 ₱6,000
Total per person around ₱26,350 around ₱54,500 around ₱90,000

Note what dominates each column. At the backpacker end, airfare is nearly half the trip. At the comfortable end, it’s accommodation. Which means the lever you pull to save money is different depending on which traveler you are.

Flights: The Number That Swings Hardest

Manila to Incheon is about four hours, flown by Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Korean Air, Asiana and Jeju Air, with direct departures from Cebu and Clark as well.

When you book Typical return fare
Seat sale, booked 6 to 9 months out ₱8,000 to ₱12,000
Normal booking, 2 to 4 months out ₱14,000 to ₱22,000
Peak season or short notice ₱25,000 to ₱35,000

Peak means early April for cherry blossoms, late October to November for autumn colours, and the Christmas break. Those three windows are also when Korean visa applications pile up, which matters for a different reason we’ll get to.

Insider tip: Watch the seat sales, but don’t pay for a promo fare until your visa is approved. Book a flexible reservation for the application, then convert to the cheap ticket once you’re cleared. Seat sales run constantly enough that missing one isn’t a disaster. A forfeited non-refundable ticket is.

The Visa: Cheaper Than You Think

This surprises almost everyone. The Korean tourist visa fee is free for stays of 59 days or less. What you pay is the Korea Visa Application Center service fee, which rose to ₱1,000 from ₱900 effective 25 August 2026. Stays of 60 to 90 days carry an additional fee of around ₱2,000.

If you use an accredited agency to prepare and file, add a handling fee, typically somewhere between ₱1,500 and ₱3,000 depending on how much they do for you.

The other 2026 change worth knowing: the three-month bank statement requirement was waived for all applicants effective 20 February 2026. That doesn’t cost you money directly, but it saves a lot of people the expense of artificially padding an account. Our South Korea visa guide for Filipinos walks through the whole application.

Accommodation: Where Mid-Range Budgets Go

Hanok houses on a lane in Bukchon Seoul, near where most Filipino travelers base themselves
Bukchon in Jongno. Central Seoul costs more per night and saves you an hour a day.
Type Per night in won Per night in pesos
Hostel dorm bed ₩25,000 to ₩35,000 ₱1,150 to ₱1,600
Guesthouse private room ₩50,000 to ₩70,000 ₱2,300 to ₱3,200
3-star hotel ₩90,000 to ₩130,000 ₱4,150 to ₱6,000
4-star hotel ₩160,000 to ₩220,000 ₱7,350 to ₱10,100

Seoul is big and its subway is excellent, so the temptation is to book cheap and far out. Resist it a little. Myeongdong, Hongdae, Insadong and the Seoul Station area put you within walking distance of most of what you came for.

Jeju and Busan run roughly 15 to 25 percent cheaper than Seoul for equivalent rooms, which is worth factoring in if you’re splitting the trip.

Insider tip: Korean guesthouses often quote per room rather than per person. For a couple or a group of three, a ₩70,000 private room split two or three ways beats two dorm beds and gives you your own bathroom. Always check whether the rate is per room.

Food: Korea’s Genuine Bargain

What you’re eating Won Pesos
Convenience store meal, kimbap and ramyeon ₩5,000 to ₩7,000 ₱230 to ₱320
Street food snack, tteokbokki or hotteok ₩3,000 to ₩5,000 ₱140 to ₱230
Rice and stew set with free banchan ₩9,000 to ₩12,000 ₱415 to ₱550
Korean BBQ, per person ₩20,000 to ₩30,000 ₱920 to ₱1,380
Café coffee ₩4,500 to ₩6,000 ₱205 to ₱275

The side dishes are free and refilled, which changes the maths. A ₩10,000 kimchi jjigae set arrives with rice, soup and five or six banchan, and you can ask for more of any of them. That’s a full meal for about ₱460.

Korean BBQ is the splurge, and most places have a two-portion minimum, so solo travelers get quietly priced out of it. Go with at least one other person.

Ever notice how travel budgets die on coffee? Korean café culture is serious and the cafés are beautiful and ₩5,500 twice a day for five days is ₱500 you didn’t plan for. Not a reason to skip it, just something to see coming.

Getting Around: Cheaper Than Almost Anywhere

Night street food stall in Seoul, the cheapest way to eat on a Korea trip from the Philippines
Seoul street food. Two or three stops here makes a dinner for under ₱400.

Buy a T-money card at any convenience store for around ₩4,000 and load it with cash. It works on the subway, buses and many taxis.

Seoul’s subway base fare is roughly ₩1,500, about ₱69, and it barely increases with distance. You can cross the city for the price of a jeepney ride and a half. Budget ₱300 to ₱500 a day and you’ll rarely exceed it.

From Incheon Airport, the all-stop AREX train is the cheap option at around ₩4,750, roughly ₱220. The express is about ₩11,000, and the airport limousine buses sit between the two but drop you nearer specific hotel areas.

If you’re adding Busan, the KTX from Seoul takes around two and a half hours for roughly ₩60,000, about ₱2,760. Domestic flights are sometimes cheaper booked early, but the train is downtown to downtown.

Attractions: Budget Less Than You’d Expect

Seongsan Ilchulbong coastline on Jeju Island, a low-cost addition to a Korea trip from Manila
Jeju. Most of the island’s best sights cost nothing but the bus fare.

Entry fees change, so these are approximate, but the shape holds: Korea’s headline sights are cheap and its theme parks are not.

  • Gyeongbokgung Palace: around ₩3,000, roughly ₱140. Free if you’re wearing hanbok.
  • Hanbok rental for a couple of hours: around ₩15,000 to ₩25,000, roughly ₱690 to ₱1,150.
  • N Seoul Tower observatory: around ₩21,000, roughly ₱970.
  • Nami Island, ferry and admission: around ₩16,000, roughly ₱740.
  • DMZ day tour: around ₩60,000 to ₩90,000, roughly ₱2,760 to ₱4,140.
  • Lotte World or Everland: around ₩62,000 to ₩64,000, roughly ₱2,850 to ₱2,950.

Plenty of the best of Seoul is free: Bukchon, Insadong, the Cheonggyecheon stream, Hongdae’s buskers, the palace grounds on certain free-entry days, and walking the Namsan trail instead of riding the cable car.

What People Forget to Budget

Travel insurance. ₱800 to ₱2,500 for a week depending on cover. Korean healthcare for non-residents is expensive, and winter slips are common. Our travel insurance guide covers what to look for.

Winter clothing. If you’re going December to February, a proper coat, thermals, gloves and boots can run ₱4,000 to ₱8,000 if you’re starting from nothing. Buy here, not there.

Philippine travel tax. Currently ₱1,620 for economy passengers departing internationally, sometimes bundled into the ticket and sometimes not. Check your fare breakdown.

Shopping. This is the one that actually blows budgets. Skincare, fashion and K-pop merchandise are the reason people come home ₱15,000 over plan. Decide your number before you land.

Airport transfers at both ends. Manila traffic to NAIA and the AREX at the other end. Small, but they add up across four legs.

How Korea Compares

Against Japan, Korea usually comes in noticeably cheaper for the same number of nights, mostly because domestic transport costs a fraction of Japanese rail and accommodation runs lower outside peak weeks. Our Japan trip cost guide has the comparison figures if you’re weighing the two.

Against Southeast Asia, Korea is more expensive than Vietnam or Thailand, roughly comparable to Singapore, and the gap is mostly accommodation rather than food.

Against staying home? A five-day mid-range Korea trip at ₱54,500 costs about the same as three separate long weekends in Palawan. Different trips, and honestly both are worth doing, but it’s a useful frame when you’re deciding where a year’s travel budget goes.
